Summary
Beneath the oil-stained skies of Cow Hollow, dairyman Phineas Dobbs' mundane existence combusts when black gold erupts from his pastures. His impromptu wealth fuels a raucous town-wide bacchanal – until destiny derails a train carrying a regal stranger into his orbit. After thwarting the local brute's harassment, Dobbs pledges himself as her San Francisco escort, ignorant that his charge is Princess Anya of Moldavia, fleeing a politically weaponized betrothal to the venomous Duke Vladislav. Trading chaps for city pavements, Dobbs employs lasso acrobatics and bronco bravado along Market Street before infiltrating the gilded prison of the St. Francis Hotel. His audacious extraction of Anya spirals into liberating her deposed father from Vladislav's clutches. With monarchy restored through cowboy calculus, Dobbs retreats to bovine pastures while Anya renounces her diadem to embrace churned butter and marital bliss as Mrs. Dobbs – a seismic downshift from throne rooms to milking stools.
Synopsis
Dreamer dairyman Phineas Dobbs of Cow Hollow suddenly acquires a fortune when oil is discovered on his ranch, and celebrates by throwing a party for the whole town. One day a young woman comes to town, delayed by train trouble. Dobbs rescues her from the town bully, and agrees to follow her to San Francisco. The woman is actually a princess who is being forced into a marriage with a man who wants to share her throne. Dobbs rides by Market Street to the St. Francis Hotel in his Western garb, and performs daring stunts to rescue the princess in distress. Together they free the princess' father. Dobbs then returns to Cow Hollow, and the princess gives up her throne to become Mrs. Phineas Dobbs.
