Summary
In the pastoral tranquility of a rural choir festival, Sally—a protagonist of profound bucolic innocence—falls prey to the sophisticated machinations of a troupe of itinerant performers. These wandering charlatans, sensing a fertile ground for their brand of urban cynicism, convince the wide-eyed girl that her voice possesses the rare, celestial timbre required for a grand operatic career. Fueled by this fabricated destiny, Sally abandons her agrarian roots for the neon-lit labyrinth of the city. However, the narrative subverts the traditional 'star is born' trope; rather than a triumphant ascent, her foray into the chorus reveals a staggering lack of metropolitan polish. Branded a 'boob' by the unforgiving theatrical establishment, she is unceremoniously purged from the limelight. The film reaches its poignant, cyclical resolution as Sally retreats from the cacophony of Broadway, finding a humbling restoration of identity among the cows and chickens of her original, unadorned existence.
