Summary
In the stark, unforgiving expanse of an Alaskan frontier, a biracial child is torn from the cradle of her dual heritage after her white father, a prospector of modest means, is slain by jealous members of his own tribe. The murder, driven by a venomous envy of his marriage to an Eskimo woman, forces the infant into the clutches of distant relatives in the United States, where she is raised amid the bustle of a coastal town, ignorant of the icy winds that once sang lullabies to her. Years later, the now‑grown daughter, bearing the indelible mark of her mixed lineage, returns to the remote village that cradled her earliest breaths. Armed with a fierce resolve, she seeks to unmask the conspirators who extinguished her father's life, navigating a labyrinth of tribal loyalties, lingering resentments, and the haunting specter of her own fragmented identity. The quest becomes both a personal vendetta and a poignant pilgrimage toward reconciliation with a past that refuses to remain buried.
