The Peddler of Lies

In the midst of a lavish party at the Metcalf estate, the Sultana diamond, a prized possession of the Marquise D'Irancy, vanishes into thin air when the lights suddenly go out due to a power failure. William Kirkland, the profligate son of the affluent Kirkland family, finds himself at the center of the maelstrom, accused of perpetrating the crime. His sister, Diana, rallies to his defense, and together they embark on an investigation, aided by the enigmatic Clamp, a wandering peddler with a penchant for mystery. As the narrative unfolds, Clamp's true identity as a secret service agent is revealed, and his connection to the notorious de Vallignacs, a family of international criminals summering at the resort, becomes apparent. The de Vallignacs' involvement in the theft of the diamond is ultimately exposed, leading to their arrest and the exoneration of William. The film culminates with Clamp's marriage to Diana, tying together the threads of romance, intrigue, and deception that have driven the plot forward.
