Biography
Camille Bardou entered the world on 24 August 1872 in the quiet Sarthe commune of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, France. In front of the camera he became a chameleon: swashbuckling through *Jim la houlette, roi des voleurs* in 1926, threading the shadowy streets of *Les mystères de Paris* four years earlier, and embodying the Sun King himself in 1904’s *Louis XIV*. His final curtain fell on 8 June 1941 in Créteil, Val-de-Marne, but the flicker of his performances still survives frame by frame.
