Biography
Northampton, Massachusetts, claimed William H. Brown on 16 August 1866, and from there he marched toward the flickering lights of early Hollywood. Between 1915 and 1917 he shaped stories from both sides of the camera—directing and starring in The Kinship of Courage, coaxing mischief out of Hoodoo Ann, and stitching hope into Cheerful Givers. Off-screen he shared his life with actress Lucille Browne. The curtain fell on 3 February 1924 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, but the frames he left behind still roll.
