Summary
A soot-smudged fairy tale unfurls along the iron arteries of 1910s America: a nameless child-warrior, her eyes twin sparks of flinty moonlight, spirits a swaddled million-dollar heiress from the clutches of two velvet-gloved gargoyles who reek of patent-leather menace. She is guided only by a tonsured mystic whose prayer beads clack like freight-car couplings, their odyssey ghosting across wheat-blond prairies and through the ribcaged underbelly of a rattling boxcar bound for Manhattan’s electric Babylon. Fortune is the ticking cargo; innocence the only passport.
Synopsis
A young girl, with the aid of a sagacious monk, saves a baby heiress from the evil designs of two villainous kidnappers, and smuggles the infant to New York aboard a freight train, to secure the fortune.
