Summary
When the newlyweds Jack (Carter DeHaven) and Mary (Flora Parker DeHaven) set out on their blissful honeymoon, the idyllic promise of romance quickly unravels into a kaleidoscope of farcical misadventures. Their journey, a train bound for a seaside resort, is hijacked by a cantankerous conductor (Harry L. Rattenberry) who, mistaking the couple for a pair of clandestine thieves, subjects them to a barrage of absurd inspections and bewildering detours. Meanwhile, the vivacious hotel maid Frona (Frona Hale) becomes an unwitting conspirator, offering cryptic advice that propels the duo into a series of mistaken identities—first as aristocratic guests, then as itinerant performers. As the night deepens, Jack’s attempts to preserve dignity clash with Mary’s spontaneous yearning for adventure, culminating in a chaotic ballroom scene where a runaway chandelier, a misplaced wedding cake, and an accidental fire alarm converge. In the aftermath, the couple emerges bruised yet enlightened, discovering that true intimacy is forged not in flawless moments but in the shared absurdity of their missteps.
