Summary
From the pastoral tranquility of his agrarian existence, a soul-weary farmer, burdened by an unspoken yearning for something more substantial than the cyclical rhythm of tilling soil, embarks upon a transformative odyssey. Accompanied by a steadfast compatriot, whose own disillusionment with bucolic life mirrors his, the duo forsakes the familiar, verdant expanse for the labyrinthine promise of the burgeoning metropolis. Their initial foray into the urban maelstrom is surprisingly auspicious; through a combination of grit, serendipity, and perhaps a touch of ruthlessness, they ascend the precarious ladder of material prosperity, accumulating a fortune that once seemed an impossible dream. However, this newfound affluence, rather than ushering in an era of blissful contentment, instead becomes a crucible. The glittering façade of success conceals a deeper, more insidious current of moral compromise, fractured loyalties, and an existential disquietude that threatens to unravel the very fabric of their beings. The city, a siren of opportunity, reveals itself also as a relentless forge, reshaping their identities and values in ways neither could have anticipated, forcing a brutal reckoning with the true, often hidden, cost of their ambitious pursuit.
