Summary
Within the cacophonous sanctuary of striped poles and leather strops, two interlopers infiltrate the sacred male ritual of barbery. Earl Montgomery's bootblack station becomes ground zero for polished chaos, while Joe Rock's razor transforms from precision instrument to anarchic wand - each flick of the wrist threatening not whiskers but wholesale pandemonium. Amid flying lather and misplaced implements, manicurists flutter like tropical birds scattering nail varnish amidst the wreckage. Patrons enter seeking dignified grooming only to become unwitting participants in a ballet of disaster, exiting with collars askew, dignity in tatters, and facial hair configurations bordering on abstract expressionism. The barber chair mutates into a carnival ride of peril where hot towels become projectiles and hair tonic flows with the abandon of prohibition whiskey.
Synopsis
Earl and Joe get jobs in a barber's shop, Earl as a bootblack and Joe as an expert with the razor. Of course, the manicure girls figure in the lively party, and it's a safe bet that all the customers who visit this particular barber shop while Earl shines shoes and Joe shaves faces are going to get everything the shop has to offer but service.
