Summary
In the bucolic tranquility of a rural farm, Edna, a young woman of unpretentious charm, finds her mundane existence upended by the sudden arrival of a bustling, itinerant movie company. Their quest for an authentic backdrop for their latest cinematic endeavor leads them directly to her doorstep. When the production's established leading lady unexpectedly departs, the opportunistic director, recognizing Edna's innate photogenic quality, thrusts her into the limelight as her replacement. This initial foray into the glamorous world of film quickly escalates into chaotic absurdity as the crew, in their pursuit of artistic authenticity, commandeers Edna's home, ruthlessly altering its very structure—cutting new windows, installing doors where none existed, and even dismantling the roof to achieve optimal lighting. The ensuing disarray is compounded by an untimely downpour, forcing the film crew into a hasty retreat, leaving behind a bewildered Edna, a deluged, desecrated home, and a solitary keepsake: a photograph of her dashing leading man. Her father's return to the unrecognizable, waterlogged homestead culminates in a farcical confrontation, discovering his daughter waist-deep in the wreckage, romantically embracing the image of her cinematic crush, leading to a memorable, if undignified, paternal reprimand.
Edna lives on a farm where a travelling movie company arrives in search for a location. The leading lady quits so the director asks Edna to take her place, and later the unit takes possession of her house to make some interiors. They fairly wreck the house by cutting extra windows and doors and also dismantling the roof in order to admit more light. Just then it begins to rain and the movie folks leave, giving Edna the leading man's picture to be remembered by. Her father returns and seeing the house demolished thinks he got the wrong place, but he finds Edna waist-deep in water in the rain-flooded room, kissing the movie hero's picture. After some spectacular diving after her, he administers his paternal drubbing.
