Risky Business

In the high-stakes social theater of 1926, Risky Business presents a chillingly calculated domestic war. Mrs. Stoughton, a matriarch whose obsession with status borders on the pathological, views her daughter Cecily’s romantic life as a portfolio to be managed rather than a heart to be followed. When Cecily falls for the earnest but socially 'unoptimized' Ted Pyncheon, Mrs. Stoughton doesn't just object—she orchestrates a multi-front campaign of psychological warfare. By introducing a revolving door of wealthy, pre-approved suitors and engineering social traps, she attempts to suffocate the young romance under the weight of obligation and luxury.
