Captain Timothy 'Two Gun' Nolan is the heavy-hitting head of the New York detective force, a man who believes every problem can be solved with a massive police raid. After a city-wide sweep, he finds his authority challenged by 'Dapper' Frank Trent, a sophisticated gang leader who uses the legal system to bail out every criminal Nolan catches. The rivalry turns personal when Nolan's close friend, Shakespeare, is killed during a shootout. Manipulated into believing he accidentally fired the fatal shot, Nolan collapses into a spiral of alcoholism and self-loathing. His journey to rock bottom leads him to a humiliating gangland banquet where his enemies treat him as a literal party decoration, forcing him to decide if there is any 'Two Gun' left in his soul.
