Summary
Ronnie Rand, a vivacious heiress shackled by a stipulation that she must wed before her twenty‑first birthday or surrender her fortune, encounters Pierre Martel, a charismatic figure she mistakenly assumes to be a hardened thief. Entranced by his swagger and convinced that a "real man" must be a rogue, she hastily consents to marriage. Pierre, however, is a covert operative for the United States Intelligence Service, embedded within a criminal syndicate to dismantle it from within. When his accomplices attempt to extort Ronnie into signing a fraudulent check, she refuses, prompting them to stage an assassination attempt on Pierre. The police intervene just in time, rescuing Pierre and exposing his true vocation. Though initially disillusioned by the revelation that her spouse is not a felon but a government agent, Ronnie ultimately reconciles with the reality of her marriage, embracing the unexpected turn of fate.
