Summary
A paroxysm of filial fury ignites the pine-dark horizon when a girl’s volcanic brother, whose wrath crackles like resin on a bonfire, propels his sister into the arms of a steadfast suitor; together they bolt across root-ripped logging roads while a spectral patriarch—beard of moss, voice of psalm—intercepts the pursuer, unaware that the blood he strives to restrain is his own progeny. In the tussle a kerosene lamp arcs, shatters, and the forest becomes a cathedral of flame; the old man, mute about their kinship, shepherds the lovers through cataracts of fire, the brother’s silhouette swallowed by ember-geysers, his howl fusing with the crackle of cedar until dawn reveals a smoldering purgatory and a lineage cauterized into myth.
