Biography
A Manhattan October breeze greeted Arthur Housman on the 10th of 1889, and by the 1920s he had traded city streets for studio lots, carving out a niche as the sly drunk everyone loved to laugh at. Silent audiences remember him slipping scene-stealing glances in The Bat (1926), trading moonlit whispers in Sunrise (1927), and swaggering through the Western dust of The Girl of the Golden West (1930). Off-camera he scribbled gags and stories, doubling as an uncredited writer while cameras rolled. The laughter stopped when he died in Los Angeles on 8 April 1942, but the reels he left behind still smirk.
