Biography
A Toronto spring delivered Scott Darling on 28 May 1898, and from that first breath he seemed wired to spin stories faster than the city’s streetcars could rattle. By the late ’30s he was stitching suspense into Telephone Operator (1937), then awakened the monster again with The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942), before letting engines roar in Born to Speed (1947). Behind the camera or the typewriter, Darling moved like a man racing the projector reel itself. Off-set, he shared his life with Eleanor Fried, his co-author in love and laughter. The final curtain fell on 29 October 1951, under California sun that once lit his silver-screen dreams.
