Biography
Cincinnati, 25 August 1877: a restless dreamer named Burton L. King first opened his eyes. By the time the silent era began to roar, he was already behind the camera, orchestrating thrills for *Won in the Stretch* (1917) and chaining Harry Houdini in the cliff-hanging serial *The Master Mystery* (1918). Two decades—and hundreds of reels—later, he still hadn’t loosened his grip on audiences, stirring storms with *When Lightning Strikes* (1934). Off-set, he shared his life with actress Adele Lane. The final curtain fell on 4 May 1944 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, but the flicker of the stories he shaped keeps racing across the screen of cinema history.
