Biography
Viennese troublemaker turned camera wizard, Richard Oswald stepped into the flickering dark in 1914, quickly spun his own shingle, and spent the next two decades hustling stories across borders—Berlin melodramas, Paris capers, London thrillers, even a quick Hollywood fling. Along the way he spot-lit unknown talents who would soon glow brighter than the marquee lights. When brownshirts replaced kliegs in 1933, he packed his reels and instincts, crossed oceans, and landed in Los Angeles, trading the Spree for the Pacific. His legacy rolled on in the next generation: son Gerd Oswald, master of lean B-movies and addictive TV dramas.
