Summary
A siren in silk gloves and a larcenist’s grin, Lila Vance pirouettes through trans-Atlantic liners and smoky Montmartre cellars, fencing emeralds for the urbane spider Svengali known as Armitage. Their waltz of larceny—equal parts chess and cabaret—spins into tripping heartbeats when stalwart Manhattan sleuth Alan Drake, all crisp collars and moral myopia, picks up the scent. Cat-and-mouse turns to moonlit tango as Drake’s badge collides with Lila’s pulse; every forged passport becomes a love letter, every stake-out a tryst. Loyalties invert like stage trapdoors: Armitage plots a triple-cross to sink both lovers beneath the Thames, while Lila must decide whether the grandest con is slipping a diamond past customs—or slipping honesty past a detective sworn to cage her. In the flicker of daggers and fog, the film asks if truth is another currency to counterfeit, or the only loot worth stealing back.
