After two grueling years of saving every penny in the city, a young couple finally secures the funds for a restorative getaway. They pile into their 'flivver'—a car that seems to be held together by hope and rust—and rattle toward a remote guest ranch. Their dream of sun-drenched tranquility is immediately met with the abrasive reality of 'Ma,' the ranch's proprietor. Ma is not the grandmotherly figure they expected; she is a trigger-happy eccentric prone to 'night-spells' that involve emptying her revolvers into the darkness.
