Summary
In the wake of a wealthy patriarch's demise, the newly appointed executor, a man of duplicitous charm, seizes the opportunity to extinguish the very benefactor who entrusted him with the estate. The murder, cold and calculated, sets off a chain of avarice that spirals into a relentless pursuit of the widow, whose rebuff fuels the executor's obsession. Seeking refuge, she embarks on a desperate road trip with her infant daughter, only to meet a fatal collision that claims her life. The child, rescued from the wreckage, vanishes into the shadows of an indifferent world. Years later, her grandparents, haunted by loss, scour the countryside for any trace of their granddaughter, while the executor, now a specter of guilt and greed, stalks the same trail. He knows that the child's reappearance would trigger the inheritance clause, stripping him of the fortune he coveted. Thus, he resolves to ensure she never resurfaces, or if she does, that she perishes before she can lay claim to the estate. The narrative unfurls as a bleak meditation on greed, loss, and the inexorable grip of fate, rendered in stark silent‑film aesthetics.
