Biography
Colorado Springs welcomed Marjorie Daw on 19 January 1902, and before she could finish grade school the movies had already claimed her. By thirteen she was trading classroom chalk for klieg lights, stealing scenes in *The Puppet Crown* (1915) and winning hearts as the sprightly heroine of *Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm* (1917). A decade later she proved her range in the tear-soaked melodrama *East Lynne* (1925), sealing a résumé that bridged silent-film innocence and worldly sophistication. Off-screen, her heart made headlines twice: first to producer Myron Selznick, then to director A. Edward Sutherland. When the talkies arrived she stepped away from the glare, letting the Pacific tides replace studio arc lights. She spent her last quiet years in Huntington Beach, California, closing the final reel on 18 March 1979.
