In the shadow of a rapidly industrializing Weimar Germany, Der König der Mittelstürmer explores the friction between old-world tradition and the burgeoning cult of athleticism. Tull Harper, a charismatic leader within the Alemannia Football Club, lives a double life that would make a modern influencer blush. By day, he is the expected heir to the Harper industrial legacy; by night and weekend, he is the 'King of the Center-Forwards.' His father, Consul Norbert Harper, views football not as a sport, but as a degenerate distraction from the serious business of commerce. The film tracks Tull’s struggle to reconcile these two identities as the stakes rise both on the pitch and in the boardroom. It is a story of a son trying to outrun his father’s shadow, quite literally, across a grassy field. The narrative culminates in a clash where the rigid structures of the Prussian work ethic meet the fluid, unpredictable energy of the beautiful game, forcing a choice between familial duty and the roar of the crowd.
